Hello and welcome to our online "home"!
My name is Marsha and I'm the owner/photographer of Joli Bouodoir photography. I'm super excited to get this blog started. I think it's important to share our process with you all and to connect with you on a personal level as well.
First I want to tell you a little about myself. This part always feels a little awkward for me because I never know what exactly to share about myself, but I'll do my best and try not to make it too boring! The typical info is, I live in Batesville, IN with my husband and our two kids. We've lived here for about 10 years and love it here, I think the community is amazing. Some weird things about me that you may or may not care about, but will hopefully help me feel more like a person from behind this computer screen. I am a coffee drinker (and drink way too much if I'm honest), I love tattoos and have several of my own, and I am drawn to the unique; I tend to like the weird and unusual.
Now, on to how I got in to boudoir photography.
I started in photography after graduating high school and decided to get serious about it after our second daughter was born. I struggled at first because I tend to have a more shy personality, but being a photographer has really helped me grow in that regard. I started out shooting families and seniors, then I had a friend ask me to do a boudoir session for her. I had been thinking about doing boudoir anyway, so it worked out great for us both. After that session, I knew that I wanted to specialize in boudoir. I have always struggled with insecurities and I realize I am not alone in that. There is something empowering about boudoir and there is nothing like helping women to see themselves in a more positive light. That is what this is all about for me. I believe we should really start looking at ourselves more positively and stop obsessing over what we don't like. I found this quote by Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience, and it really says it all.
So hopefully you decide to stick around and see what is to come with Joli Boudoir!
